The full formula, with every active ingredient and its exact milligram amount, is listed on our ingredients page. There is no proprietary blend.
The inactive (binding and flavoring) ingredients are: Rice Bran, Chickpea Flour, Whey Powder, Potato Starch, Apple Powder, Sweet Potato, Cultured Dextrose, Flaxseed Meal, Glycerin, Sunflower Oil, Lecithin, Natural Flavor Oil, Natural Antioxidant.
These ingredients give the chew its soft texture, palatability, and shelf stability without compromising the active formula.
They also contain Green Lipped Mussel Powder, which is a shellfish-derived ingredient — relevant for dogs with shellfish sensitivities.
No artificial colors, artificial flavors, or synthetic preservatives. The formula uses Natural Antioxidant and Cultured Dextrose (a natural fermentation-derived preservative) for shelf stability. Every ingredient — active and inactive — serves a functional purpose.
Who they’re for
These chews are a great fit for a wide range of dogs:
- Senior dogs showing signs of stiffness, slowing down, or reluctance to use stairs
- Large and giant breeds prone to joint stress (Labradors, German Shepherds, Great Danes, etc.)
- Active or working dogs who put high demands on their joints
- Dogs recovering from orthopedic injury or surgery
- Younger dogs as a preventive measure, especially in predisposed breeds
These chews are formulated for adult dogs. We recommend consulting your veterinarian before giving joint supplements to puppies, as their developmental nutritional needs differ significantly from adult dogs.
Yes — dosing is weight-based, so smaller dogs simply receive a lower serving. Always follow the dosage guidelines on the product label, and consult your vet if you have any concerns specific to your dog’s size or health history.
Results & usage
Joint supplements work best with consistent, long-term use. Most pet owners begin to notice improvements in mobility, comfort, and activity levels within 4–8 weeks of daily supplementation.
These chews can be given directly as a treat or alongside a meal — whichever your dog prefers. Giving with food may aid absorption of the fat-soluble ingredients (Vitamins C and E, Sunflower Oil) and is a good idea for dogs with sensitive stomachs.
Because these chews are palatable, some dogs will eat more than intended if given the chance. A small overindulgence is unlikely to cause serious harm, but consuming significantly more than the recommended dose may cause temporary digestive upset — loose stools, gas, or vomiting. If your dog consumes a large quantity, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (888-426-4435) for guidance.
Quality & sourcing
These chews are Made in the USA. Our curated selection prioritizes brands that manufacture in NASC-compliant and cGMP-certified facilities, ensuring each batch meets rigorous quality, purity, and safety standards.
We don’t carry everything — we carry the right things. Every product on Nurtured Paws is hand-selected based on ingredient quality, brand transparency, and proven results. This formula earned its place because it goes well beyond the basic glucosamine-chondroitin stack — with Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen Type II, Green Lipped Mussel, and Boswellia all working together to support joint function at multiple levels. That’s the Nurtured Paws standard.
